Think that AI won't affect your next (or current career) in some way? Think again!
I quite like writing content for my newsletters, blogs, social media posts etc, but I know that I could save a load of time by asking ChatGPT to do it for me. I wonder whether anyone would be able to tell the difference. Would anyone care that it's not written by me?
I asked ChatGPT 'How will AI affect people's career choices?'. This is what it came back with:
"AI is already affecting people's career choices by creating new job opportunities and changing the nature of work in many industries.
Here are some ways in which AI is likely to affect career choices in the coming years:
Creation of new jobs: AI is creating new job opportunities in fields such as data science, machine learning, and AI development. These jobs require specialized skills and knowledge, and they are likely to be in high demand in the coming years.
Automation of routine tasks: AI is also automating many routine tasks and reducing the need for certain types of jobs, such as manual data entry or low-level administrative work. This means that people who currently hold these jobs may need to acquire new skills or transition to new roles that are less likely to be automated.
Increased demand for hybrid skills: AI is likely to increase the demand for people with hybrid skills, such as those who have both technical and creative skills. For example, companies may seek out people who can develop AI systems that are also aesthetically pleasing or emotionally engaging.
Shifts in job requirements: As AI becomes more prevalent in the workplace, job requirements are likely to change. For example, workers may need to be more proficient in using AI tools and technologies, or they may need to be able to collaborate effectively with AI systems.
Overall, AI is likely to have a significant impact on people's career choices in the coming years. Those who are able to adapt to these changes and acquire new skills will be well-positioned to succeed in the rapidly evolving job market."
Apart from the tone not being mine, it's not bad is it?
As I ponder how AI will affect how most people around the globe earn a living over the next few years, the words that keep coming back to me are EMOTION, EMPATHY, COMMUNITY, CONNECTION, HUMAN TOUCH and LOVE.
But this could well change soon too, as up until recently, people were predicting that AI couldn't replace human CREATIVITY. Yet, we are now seeing AI helping us out with product design, music composition, social media content creation...the list goes on and on. And we've barely scratched the surface with what will be possible.
I'd love your thoughts on this. Is it scary or exciting to you?
